Breast Cancer Awareness Month: A Story of Hope and Healing
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a vital time to raise awareness about breast cancer and promote the importance of early detection. This year, I want to share an inspiring story of one of our customers who was diagnosed with cancer at a very early stage. Her proactive approach and commitment to health played a key role in her journey toward healing.
She had been incorporating wheatgrass regularly into her routine, and after receiving her test results, she reached out to me for advice. I suggested she increase her intake of wheatgrass, and she followed through. By the time she underwent surgery, her tumor had shrunk by 4 mm!
Wheatgrass, known for its high antioxidant content, may provide supportive benefits to breast cancer patients. Antioxidants can help improve overall health, and some studies indicate that wheatgrass juice may help reduce myelotoxicity in patients undergoing chemotherapy. Additionally, research suggests that it may lower serum ferritin levels in individuals with myelodysplastic syndrome.
We Believe Wheatgrass helps oxygenate the blood due to its high chlorophyll content. The theory suggests that better blood oxygenation might create an environment where cancer cells struggle to thrive, as these cells are thought to prefer low-oxygen conditions. The potential benefits of wheatgrass for general health, energy levels, and vitality make it a valuable consideration for those seeking complementary therapies during cancer treatment.
This is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, let’s continue to spread awareness, encourage early detection, and offer hope to those affected.
New Self-Referral for Mammograms in Fall 2024
Beginning in the fall of 2024, you will be able to self-refer for mammograms starting at age 40. No doctor’s referral will be needed, and the service will be covered by OHIP, making it easier for women to take control of their health. Early detection saves lives—be sure to prioritize your health and schedule your mammogram when eligible.
